WHAT IS LACROSSE….

Lacrosse is a highly skilled, athletic, physical game with it origins from the First Nations People of North America. With a history that spans centuries, lacrosse is the oldest sport in North America it was often played to resolve conflicts, heal the sick, and to develop strong warriors. To the first Nation people, lacrosse is still referred to as "The Creator’s Game”

This rapidly growing sport combines rugby hits, with basketball strategies and hockey finesse. Anyone can play lacrosse — the big or the small. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse. The sport’s nickname is “The fastest game on two feet” so it’s should be no surprise it provides outstanding exercise, fitness, fun and a good shot of competitiveness.

Lacrosse is a team sport where players try to get a rubber ball into a net or goal. Players use a long stick with a net on the end of it called a lacrosse stick. They can run, carry, catch, shoot, and pass the ball with the net of the stick. The lacrosse team with the most points or goals at the end of the time period wins the game.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse played under different rules. Women’s rules limit stick contact, prohibit body contact and, therefore, require little protective equipment. Men’s lacrosse rules allow some degree of stick and body contact, and requires protective equipment for hand, elbows and a helmet.
